Auto transplantation

Autotransplantation involves taking a tooth from one part of the mouth and implanting it at another site. This is performed for patients who are congenitally missing teeth or missing a tooth due to trauma, but the patient is too young for a dental implant. This procedure is both time and technique sensitive; the patient must be at an age where the tooth has not fully developed and can therefore be transplanted. The mandibular premolar is the most common tooth used for the procedure and can be utilized to replace another premolar or the central incisor.
